depending on all sorts of crap these days, my bro payed 1600 for is 1.4 astra first year of driving, then he decided to put himself down as with 1 year no claims third party, as 19 working as a manager car parked in office car park. it halfed the price to 800. it depends on stuff like where you live and car theft and vanadlism in the area, yearly mileage, job, and hold it against you for points on your licence.

Adrian Flux, HIC, Footman James, go with specialist companies, be specific about what u want, milage etc dont just say" yer abotu 12k a year" cos they will use it to rip u, make sure u get em to send it threw written, check it all over for hidden extras u dont need.

I live in a rough area, crime rates are pretty high, thats one thing that bumps my price up. Plus the fact ZR's are on a high Ins Group for what they are.

If I use my Dads address, it drops to around £600.

yes i agee but when you go through your parent's you dont gain no year's claim's. and it would proberly be cheaper to have your own insurance from start to the end. dosnt matter how long you've been driving either because older people do have crash's as they tend to rush like everyone dose.

Some companies allow you to gain no claims on other people's insurance.
As long as you're a named driver.

But I think it's probably better to just start off on your own insurance as long as you're a confident driver.

My brother passed in June when he was 17. Was driving a Fiesta (Classic '96) 1.25L on his own insurance of about £1700 (TPFAF) (with pass plus). The year after (1 year no claims, 18 years old) his insurance had dropped to about £600.

I passed in May when I was 17, paid £1803 (TPFAF) (with pass plus) on the same model car (although 2 years newer), and I'm hoping my insurance (considering I still have my no claims) will drop by about £1000 now I'm 18.

Better than paying £800 year after year, then in the end you'll want to move to your own insurance anyway.

yes i agree after the first year it will drop by alot. im 19 and still aint passed but my car is tax/mot'd/and has a years insurance and it's cost me just over £1000 with 1year's no cliam's now thats good. i have my motorbike insurance due soon. it will proberly drop by few hundred hopfully was over £400 to insure it.
and my brother's punto (daneo) is a 1ltre and it's cost him little over £1000 to insure that and hes 18 with 2year's no claims jst coming up. so really the age you are also has a big difference aswell.

and it's also on what car it is. ive noticed this. im guessing a fiester is a low grade?
my car is a grade 7 which aint to bad.

Job is taken into consideration, Doctor is one of the cheapest if i remember rightly?

Mines about 1400-1600 a year on my mums insurance for a 1.6i Astra, didnt see the point in struggling to pay the extra few hundred quid on my first cars insurance. Just going to wait until i graduate when i can afford my own insurance.
