Welcome to The Legend Of Mir 1

Background

In 1998 Wemade Entertainment released their first game under the Mir franchise, sadly no one outside of South Korea and China got opportunity to play. The project was abandoned very shortly after it's release and that's where it stayed until now.
Over the years screenshots were shared around old forums and little was known of the game that so little people managed to play or own.

Where are we now?

Recently @Lilcooldoode was sent the original client and work began on creating an open source Mir 1 Project for our community.
We currently have a working Client/Server/Lib Editor and Map Editor, A database for the client is being worked on and the code is coming through nicely to remove Crystal Mir 2 features and adding some brand new, never seen before features which featured on the original Mir 1 game.
Alot of research has taken place to find information on the game and how systems work.
Info on the game is few and far between with websites that no longer exsist and a lack of people that played the orginal.
Forum Sections have already been made which very shortly will become public.

Good/Evil System

Yea that's right, you better be on your best behaviour as Mir 1 has Mir 2's Good & Evil system but with added features! More than just turning your name brown/yellow or red, In Mir 1 Good & Evil works from an independent level which determines what mind state the player is in.

Some Items and even caves can be restricted to players that are too Evil but perhaps even Good players may find themselves restricted from using Evil Items or entering Evil Dungeons.

Castle System

Mir 1 has many Castles spread around its world.

Look out for the big Castles as once the player reaches a certain Level, they may pick a castle of their choosing to protect and to team up with fellow Castle Members.

Guild Wars? Yea, but Castle Wars. Yea that should be chaos.

A little tip. Don't get caught in a Castle that you are not a member in. Legends have it you may get stuck in their Prison.

Fast Travel System

The Mir 1 World is huge, it would be a shame if you needed to walk from one side to the other. Well there's a better way. Find Fast Travel Platforms dotted around many castles and areas to instantly move to new locations fast.

More info: Fast Travel

Class Variant System

Each of the three classes within Mir have a variant which allows the player to better fit their play style.

Fire Wizard (Attack-focused Attack Sorcerer): Mainly uses the power of fire.

Celestial Wizard (Defence-focused Attack man): Mainly uses the power of electricity.

Instructor Taoist (Attack-centred recovery wizard): Mainly uses the power of the earth.

Monk Taoist (Defence-centred Recovery Master): Mainly uses the power of water.

Negative Warrior (Attack-focused Attack Warrior): Emphasizes offense over defence.

Yang Warrior (Defence-focused Offensive Warrior): Emphasizes defence over attack.

What class will you pick?

I'm more than happy to answer any questions
See you soon

Much more to come

This is amazing, I've only ever seen a few screenshots of the game and always wondered what the original Mir was like.

This is what LOMCN is all about! Looking forward to seeing more mate.

Isn't there a Motorola phone which comes with mir 1 installed? Has anyone tried get there hands on one to see the game play?
There was a post the other day with a photo of exactly what you’re talking about, it’s not the same game. Don’t believe it’s even within the Mir world

The gaming scene out west, or better said, in USA (where mir1 got its inspiration) was way past this crude look in 1998.

I guess they got hold of some older game engine from one of those single player early games 'made in USA' of which it is strongly reminiscent (possibly some had group LAN playing mode), maybe stole or bought it, almost certainly there was some 'copying' even if they developed it from scratch (in the style how China got all the know how transferred from West later on), and had a fling with it, possibly being among the first with putting it online as MMORPG (MultiMassiveOnlineRolePlayingGame) style.

We must be very grateful this happened because otherwise this game style (isometric 2d view from above) was quickly 'surpassed' by the move to 3d out here in the West, where the gaming companies didn't believe this game style would have any future and moved on. We owe this game style surviving to the Asian gaming scene that was in those times (1998) 'behind the times', relative to the scene out here in the West.

Early 3d games in the West couldn't be online (only played as single player games or on LAN at most) as the internet in those days was still on 56k beeping modems over phone lines and if Wemade wanted to go online with mir2, it had to be 2d game

Looking forward to trying it out and playing around with the files!

I was looking for any remnant of mir 1 for more then 20 years.

Is the client available for download somewhere, be cool to see the sfx/bgm used for this back then.

The client isn’t available at this moment in time. There are a lot of main systems still needed for the client that aren’t coded in yet.

However, the images extracted from the original client were put into lib format for ease of use and familiarity.
