I have been trying to find the 2000 eval version to download but it appears microsoft have taken the links offline... I have found Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) Release A though...

Is this the same, and if so, would I be able to host a server with this??

Don't use EVAL without using the crack.

if i was in your shoes i would just torrent a full copy of ms sql 2000 server and then put the appropriate patches on it and it will then work perfect with the server also you could do the legal alternative which is to buy a copy of the sql needed choice is yours
