pc to tv problem

i have just connected a pc to my 40 inch tv to use as a monitor and i have used a dvi to hdmi lead , but when i try
to log onto a mir server it keeps changing to 800 x 600 @ 75p, my normal resolution is 1920x1080p but when i log onto game it goes down to to 800 x 600 p , on the screen though it mir opens up in a small box in the top left hand corner , any help to resolve this would be much appreciated

This is normal, if you want to play it in fullscreen this is what will happen.

Mir runs at 800 x 600, no matter what monitor you play it on.

best you'll be able to do is get it working in windowed mode (down to the client you're using) so that it doesn't stretch on bigger screens.

i have had it working b4 through a vga cable and now i have changed it to a dvi to hdmi cable it dont work , surely it cant be down to just a cable thats stopping it lol

the cable thats the only thing stopping it lol i had it working previously with a vga cable so when i played mir i had it in 40inch tv mode , covering the whole screen , now i have changed it to a dvi-hdmi cable it wont do the same thing lol thats what im trying to fix lol without having to resort to the other cable lol

You're not really making sense. Mir runs at 800x600. What exactly is "40 inch tv mode"?

also stop putting 'P' on the end of all your resolutions, not all resolutions use progressive scan.

what i ment to say in regards to the 40inch mode is with the previous lead i had mir playing on my 40 inch tv in full screen mode , now with this other lead dvi-hdmi cable its only coming up on my screen as a little box in the corner of my tv and its not even the whole game either , its missing the writing in the screen in mir like hp bars and exp bar and such , thats what i ment to say sorry for any confusion lol

have you tried changing the settings of the exe to compatibility mode, and force windows to render at 800x600 during gameplay?

I really don't think its anything to do with your cable. both VGA and DVI/HDMI run at the same 1920x1080 (1080p) resolution, and mir doesn't know what cable or size monitor you're using, it only knows what resolution your computer is set at.

was your previous monitor/tv that you used (before the 40" one) running at the same 1080p resolution, or was it lower?

it was the same and it was on any mir but the one i opened there was 3 heroes , but i worked it out i used my 32 inch lcd and it came on fine for soem reason so i just un-plugged the the 32 inch and pluggedin 40 inch and it came on fine weird though , but ty for all ur help it was much appreciated

try changing the image format to just scan/original or 4:3 when in mir (using your tv remote).
