Anybody got a headset? I've just ordered the Oculus Rift S for Tuesday and would be interesting to play multiplayer games.

Any game recommendations?

I've been holding off until the technology is perfect :p

I don't want my high expectations to be dashed.

Please let me know how you find it :).

Yeah I've been holding off as well for that reason. The Rift S has only just released. For me the best selling point was that the sensors that track your movement are no longer external, instead they are inside the headset.

I believe Valves VR headset and controllers are ahead of others but the price tag of £900 is a tad much lol.

I'll let you know after some extensive play time.

My main concern is IPD. It's basically the width between your pupils and it can hugely impact your experience with VR. Most headsets can be manually changed via the hardware for IPD but the Rift S is fixed and instead changed via software. I've bought it off amazon in case it doesn't suit me and can send it back.

Like Jamie I have been waiting years and been so hyped for VR to get to a stage where it's worth buying. I can honestly say i'm so impressed by it. it's not even funny how realistic and immersive it is.

The oculus Rift S is an awesome bit of kit but I would probably advise spending extra on the valve index as you can manually change the IPD settings on the hardware which will give you better clarity and sweet spot. With mine, it can be sometimes annoying to get the headset in a position to make it perfect.

For me and all you glasses wearers, you can buy prescription lenses to go on the headset lenses so you don't have to wear your glasses and they are only £60.

@Jamie I'd definitely recommend trying it dude, even if it's not at a stage where you want it, you can always return it online. I used amazon just incase I wanted to return it.

Guess I'll never be able to play anything else lol

Glad im not only person, certain games just trigger it... even minecraft on certain settings destroys me!

I get motion sickess for sure but it goes away once you get used to it, the guardian box helps with it and confidence as it shows if you come near the edge of the play area. im running round pavlov taking heads off fast paced but I just tried blade and sorcery and the motion sickness was back, just gotta get used to each game i guess

Can confirm, after extensive play times ( up until 6am ) it can mess with your head. waking up and walking to the toilet felt like I was in VR getting motion sickness. Closing my eyes at night I could see the VR outline..?? masturbating was also difficult..

I am officially ****ed.

Until its cheaper and been around longer, wont be interested in VR. All i've seen are pony compared to what we're hoping for (Ready Player One) style. lol!

But im also a fond believer in gaming should stay as a controller in hand. If I wanted to go shoot things, or play football outside, I would. (Airsoft/paint ball, not just another shooting epidemic >.< )

I have a HTC Vive, it's a waste of money. Uncomfortable, heavy headset and a lack of worthwhile games. Most things to try are one-off experiences and tech demos such as The Blu, Plank, Rick & Morty. You can enjoy Superhot VR, Skyrim VR, Fallout 4 VR, Beat Saber and Gorn, which are some of the more popular VR titles, but it gets old very fast.

The first half an hour with the virtual reality is like magic, but the negatives outweigh the positives. Wait until the technology is there. I wouldn't buy another VR headset until the weight has been dramatically reduced. You can't be immersed with a heavy, hot, weight pushing down on you.

VR porn is good though.

I see where you're coming from. I'm really enjoying Pavlov, onward and beat saber though. I'm yet to delve deeper as money doesn't grow on trees 😭

I purchased the Rift S on release day, got most of the games currently out on steam and played it most nights for the first few weeks. My expectation was also very high, and after seeing the limited field of view you get (black borders in all directions of your vision) and being able to notice the pixelation from the low resolution displays i was kinda let down a little. These a definitely things they'll need to improve on if VR is to become more mainstream.

That said, VR still blew my mind. To say that the Rift S is only £500 and you no longer need any lighthouses its well worth it. I have friends who purchased the Vive and Rift which both uses 2/3 light houses - and they all say the setup process for room calibration is a nightmare unless you have them in a permanent fixed location. The Rift S is simply 3 motions to draw your room and you're done.

So far Trover Saves the Universe (Same people who did Rick and Morty) is my favourite game i've played. It's one of the few "full" VR games which doesn't just feel like a short experience, and lots of fun.

The steam VR experience (The lab) is probably the next best game. They're all short games but all very fun and different.

Job Simulator / Vacation Simulator are also fun. Though quite short they're really good to show off what VR hand tracking can do.

Super Hot and Robo Recall also very fun. Blade & Sorcerer is a good arena skyrim type game, though doesn't feel like a full game and the physics can be crazy (also only game to give me motion sickness as you run around instead of the usual teleporting)

If you haven't already i would highly recommend ceiling hooks for your cable. The first few days of having the cable trail on the floor and get hook around my feet when you get carried away were abit annoying. But with the ceiling hooks the headset goes unnoticed and removes the weight, and you can do circles in your room without fear of falling over - really improves the experience.
