I don't think it's been explained very well...

The Expert aren't there to replace SFM's - they are there to answer help topics, share their knowledge, keep important threads (stickies) up to date and so on. We currently have no one designated to that and haven't for quite some time.

SFM's are just having their powers extended globally (all sections).

I ran a server back when Mir was good.


But nobody has said we're experts, have you been listening?

We're moderators, experts are being chosen for the Mir sections.

Good luck to those on there positions, still don't understand the logic in making kyn a smod, lil i can sort of understand he's been here from the begining and is quite mature (from what i can tell) but kyndig? just makes me laugh no offence to kyndig but he's not the best person for the position but hey i hope i'm proven wrong. I think there could of been a few better choices out there, anyways i'm looking forward to a public admin fight on the forums in the future (celcius v kyndig) .

How do you become "successful" on mir?

People have their own playing styles, so I fail to see how you become "successful" when playing mir?

While I agree with the general discussion of it seems the "experts" will be seen as just general forum mods, I thought that server forum creators had the right to do this anyway, the supermods fair enough I understand needing more around as some threads do get out of hand and congratulations to those that deserved it.

I originally did vote tai to become a mod but I recently saw he had resigned due to arguements with staff? or something along those lines, this seems it could cause waves having a staff member drop in and out. It is a concern as to be fair Azura did the same thing, he eventually went bats*** crazy and uploaded granny porn, now I know tai does not have the same amount of power but having the ability to delete / lock etc may cause problem, if the spot is given I believe it must be earned and with a recent resignation it is not completely earned.

That is my view point.

I did not upload the granny porn, however I did have the access and the means to do so. The reasoning at the time was because I spend a long time making a set of files as english as possible with least cheats as possible (for my own means to use) anyone else could have done the same, but instead people waited for me. I decided I didnt want to release the files right away, this was not greeted well by Hazuki. My server then got hacked and my files released, I wanted the release deleted but the request was denied.

Later on I got hold of the Ruby files which I uploaded and released, Ruby team got unhappy and wanted it removed. I refused. They then got pissy and went to hazuki who then told me that if the person who spent the time on the files does not want it released then we should not release it. (this is what got me pissed off)

I then uploaded the Ruby files to the main Lomcn directory, this is all I done. Later it was edited and deleted to granny porn and to this day I was blamed and told it was my IP that matched.

I do not believe any new member or promoted member of staff will have this problem as no one really release their work in full any more.

Who are you? lol @ successful on mir... Who says you have to run a server to be an expert? BH, Milo, Haz ran servers ages ago but still have position yet they still know the ins and outs.

It was not meant as an insult more as a worry, don't take it to heart. More the matter seems concerning to have a mod drop out then rejoin then get even more power, azura did do the same at one point but with a more powerful spot, he went deleting, releasing, deleting, the works.

It is being concerned for LOMCN that is all you may want to defend a bit more than that though. What's stopping you from dropping out again over a dispute?

I really dont understand what you base your recruiting from really, i mean out of all the super mods, kyndigs, Senture, Lilcooldude and Tai... the only 1 id even agree with being ok is lilcooldude - who NEVER posts on teh forums. He posts maybe once a month to talk about coding stuff, how the hell can u make him a super mod?

Tai is more trouble than hes worth, spamin crap and infracting left right and center, yet for some reason hes a mod yet again? really?

Honestly it'll never cease to amaze me the choices that are made on this forum, its no wonder it goes downhill.

You might remember me from a few years back. I was a Super Mod too back then but chose to step down as I had other priorities in life. I was asked to join the team since I'm known for being fair and unbiased.

But seriously, like 90% of the staff are just people that can/are coding mir files, its like if you want to become a mod/admin on this forum, just learn to code mir files.

It feels more like a Ruby team forum now than a forum to advertise forums, seein as the whole team is now part of lomcn staff.

I'll be the 10% that isn't lol.

Fair enough recruiting people who Care about and have knowledge on Mir, but if the decision was mine, Id rather have the mods to be not as involved in mir as proved before causes conflicts with players etc.
Id rather have the Mir carers helping to improve the game, and Forum carers as Mods.

I guess this is where I come in a bit. I'm not really part of the community and haven't been for some time, so there's no conflict of interest here.

We will always get people who disagree with staffing policies and I think its healthy that the community express their views.

A bit of healthy discussion is always good, but so far we've had a bit of cannon fodder and flame wars, not just from the general users too. Voicing your opinion is one thing, but there's no need to go on the offensive here.

What's a shame is that we were planning on asking you to become a Mir expert due to your success at creating established servers....

I was ok until i saw Celsius name in red, my next question is why? First it was Robert whos not been on lomcn for about 5 years and now Celsius the most usless super moderator on the forums.

Just because you can code little things into a server doesnt make u an expert. Ive never claimed to be an expert.. pls quote me when i said im an expert of mir?

Im sure theres loads of coding things you could do that i could not, just like i can make a good server, and you cannot. And good servers are built around the actual server, not the coding. But hey.. u found that out with ruby right?

I stand by what ive said, kyn, lil, tai shouldnt be mods.... tai is barable cause at least hes active, but kyn and lil just makes no sense, and plenty of ppl here have agreed with me. Quite honestly i wouldnt wanna be a part of a team thats just giving special treatment just cause they can code to keep them "sweet".

kyn has been a mod a few times and was always demoted cause he was useless or caused problems, so WHY give him a super mod position lol just makes no sense rly..

Matt & Senture I can understand - Matt is a good admin on FH forums and Senture; I just remember always using the links in his siggy for help so I don't need to know him, I like him!

And I also agree with Bon. Can't name any of the top of my head, but there are better moderators out there in LOMCN, but you just promote people who can code. It's quite frustrating tbh, and just how ****y they all act.

My advice is to actually think about staff promotions for longer than a second rather than doing it on a whim.
